Darren is no stranger to long range shooting, this is his third Palma Match. In 1999 he represented Zimbabwe in Bloemfontein, South Africa, where he also won the World Long Range Individual Title. Darren then competed in the 2003 Palma Match in Bisley, this time representing his new homeland, Australia.
This is Darren’s third visit to Canada, his first being a working bursary which he was awarded in 1989, when he worked for a season on a Tobacco Farm in Aylmer, Ontario. His second visit was to the Commonwealth Games in Victoria in 1994, where he represented Zimbabwe.
Socially Darren admits to having a taste for fine red wines and believes that he has become somewhat of a connoisseur, starting at the age of 10 when he brewed anything from mulberries to rose hips. He is looking forward to sharing a drop or two with new and old friends.
Darren owns a Caltex Franchise in Queensland which he successfully runs with his wife and fellow team member Gillian. They live in Appletree Creek with their two sons, Dean and Matthew, and where they also breed Java Rusa Deer.
