Gordon has kicked around rifle ranges for most of his life. He has been a member of the Queensland State team since 1990 and has been a regular inclusion in many National Teams. His many notable successes include being a member of the State Team which won the Merrett Match in Bendigo in 2000 with a record score.
Despite being one of the Australian Team’s coaches and a very active member in the Australian shooting scene, Gordon describes himself as a “pretty ordinary bloke” . He believes that, fortunately for the Australian Team, his expertise on mechanical requirements extending through to armouring has neither been relied upon nor required.
Gordon has been active in shooting administration at all levels of the sport for many years. He is a past Chairman and current Finance Director of the National Rifle Association of Australia. He is also a past Chairman and current Finance Director of the Queensland Rifle Association.
An Accountant by profession, Gordon is more at home with a pen and pencil, and still grapples with the difference – if there is any – between a screwdriver and a hammer! Happily married to Ruth, he is the father of two children and lives in Bundaberg.
