Jan was introduced to shooting by her husband Bob in 1979 and now the better part of her life is consumed by shooting either as a competitor or an administrator. Jan currently holds the position of Chairman of the Northern Territory Rifle Association and is a past Director of the National Rifle Association of Australia.
Jan has been a member of the Northern Territory Team since 1985 and travels extensively to compete at State, National and International Championships. She has represented Australia in many women’s teams as a shooter and coach, and she coached the Army team in Bisley in 1997. This is her first Australian Open Team.
During her shooting career, Jan has won over 70 Queen’s badges in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa and five Grand Aggregates in three states; Northern Territory, Queensland and North Queensland. In their spare time, Jan and Bob have successfully developed a match grade projectile for target shooting which they manufacture in their home town of Darwin.
Jan and Bob have two grown up children and on the rare occasions that she can get away from the range or the bullet room, she can be found enjoying her other passion, fishing.
