Robert commenced rifle shooting in 1975 and was selected for the West Australian State Teams in 1986 and 1988, travelling to Adelaide and Sydney respectfully. Following this Robert concentrated on farming and family until 2001. After a rifle rebarrel, he then made the State Team to Tasmania in 2003 and this was followed by the Team to Sydney in 2004 and Brisbane in 2006.
Among his many highlights, Robert counts shooting for three consecutive years at the Murray Districts Prize Meeting without dropping a point and his performance in the 2004 National Teams Matches, the Merrett Match, in Sydney. In the same year he was leading the West Australian Queen’s with only one point down when he watched fellow Australian James Corbett count him out by centre bulls!
Robert is a farmer in country Western Australia. He is married to Roslyn, with three children and is the very proud grandfather to one.
